Fire Safety & Emergency Medical Assistance

The Woodburn Fire District was established in 1901. The district is centrally located in the Willamette Valley in Marion County and provides fire protection and advanced life support emergency medical service to 40,000 residents in a 75 square mile area that includes the communities of Woodburn, Gervais and surrounding rural areas.

The district operates four strategically located fire stations with a fifth station soon to be under construction. The district has a rapidly growing tax base and enjoys strong support from the community that provides the district firefighters with state-of-the-art equipment and fire apparatus. The fire district provides a comprehensive training program with an emphasis on the strategies, tactics and equipment recommended through the Underwriters Laboratory and NIST studies.

The district averages a volume increase is 4.73% each year, answering 3,724 calls for help in 2024.

NFPA Standards evaluates the number of firefighters to resident ratio as being 1 firefighter for every 10,000 residents. Currently the district employs 24 firefighters the for the 40,000 plus residents within the fire service. Twelve of the 24 members are on loan to us from a grant through the SAFER FEMA grant funding program.
